To cap off our lectures on China, we’ll have an open text, all essay quiz on the texts below. This will be on the last meeting this week, before I kick off Islam. I’ll explain more this in class.

Notes:
Good day, Batch 2013!
As just officially announced by Ma’am Gene Andres, the 2nd Quarter Periodic Exam will be from October 11 (Monday) to 13 (Wednesday). The rest of the week (14 and 15) will be for the various post-quarter activities your subjects may have.
This will obviously affect our previously scheduled field trip with Lakbay Kalikasan on October 8 (Friday). Considering all the changes now, we are booked on October 16 (Saturday).
I was initially negotiating for October 15 (Friday), however Lakbay has already been booked by another school on that day. They can only accommodate one additional batch from Pisay for the 15th, however the 4th years have requested to take the date since they have to prepare for the DLSU exams on that weekend (17th). Hence, October 16. This date has been announced by Ma’am Andres as well.
We will have a Batch Congress on October 1 (Friday) to orient you on the trip. I’ll announce more details about the time and place of the BaCon as they become available.
Thanks very much!
My dear students, I am now pleased to present the grades of your Timeline Building Project! Besides an exercise in history, this is also a chance for me to look into your work ethic and creativity as individuals and as a class. Congrats to everyone for your hard work!
However, I’d like to recognize those who really stepped it up — Well done, Jasmin! Not only does your timeline look great, it is also extremely useful. You’ve set a new standard for this project. Well done!
So here are your marks, and my comments. Click on the tables below to view your actual timelines.
So how did the others do? How did you do?
Now published, shareable, and linkable — for your viewing pleasure!
These are the versions I am grading.
To my students: everyone is now demoted to a viewer. You can still access the document but you can no longer edit. You’ll still need that for LT2.
First, regarding the Timeline. I will unveil the results one class per day. We’ll do it alphabetically. Camia, you’ll have your results on Monday; Jasmin on Friday.
Here are the criteria for grading:
Second, your reading assignments.
Check out the advance copy of the History of China PowerPoint. Here are the reading assignments per session this week –
I am gunning for two quizzes this week. Good luck!
Criteria for retention of membership for SY 2011/12:
1. Attendance in key AKSIS meetings and activities (as identified by your chairpersons and officers).
2. Quality of your contribution in terms of either time, effort, or ideas. Feel free to talk to any AKSIS officer about your ideas for club activities. Then we encourage you to use the AKSIS Proposal Form in order to concretize your ideas into a workable plan.
3. Voting in the year-end election of officers for SY 2011/12.
In the aftermath of Humanities Week, I think we need to take things a little slow. Many of your other subjects will try to make up for lost time. I want us to make up for lost energy and sleep!
THERE WILL BE NO QUIZ FOR SS2 THIS WEEK. Expect them to be back with a vengeance starting September 13.
WE WILL BE WATCHING A DOCUMENTARY FOR TWO SESSIONS. No, I will not be doing a single-screening for my five sections. One, there is no venue comfortable enough for that. Two, I wouldn’t want to keep you from going home early and taking a break. Not yet, at least.
THE TIMELINE PROJECT, HOWEVER, REMAINS. Final checking will be done on September 15. PLEASE FILL IT UP ALL THE WAY TO THE END. Classes can now talk about design and formatting.
I will expect an individual SUMMARY OF INPUTS on September 13 (C, Ch, J) and 14 (D, I). The Summary of Inputs is basically a combined, typewritten form of your submissions for phases one to three. This is what I will grade individually. Good luck!
